When the going gets really tough and the job at hand is extremely serious, it's probably time to turn to the incredible 2018 Ford F-450.

Why Buy the Ford F-450?
Perhaps the better question would be why wouldn't you buy the Ford F-450? And the only answer to that is because you just don't need that level of capability. But if you do have to handle the biggest towing and hauling tasks on a regular basis, it's nearly impossible to do better than the F-450.
But not only does the F-450 Super Duty tow and haul like a demon, it's now been brought right up to date with a high-strength steel and military-grade aluminum construction along the same lines as its all-conquering little brother, the F-150. As well as handling the most serious of jobs, this mighty Ford pickup can also be as comfortable, luxurious, and well-equipped as you want it to be.
What Can the F-450 Tow?
Unless you are involved in some pretty specialized and incredibly demanding towing applications, the F-450 can probably tow and haul more than you're likely to need. But even if you're not going to be pushing the limits of the Ford, having plenty of capability in reserve means the F-450 can handle what you need it to handle day in, day out, all year round.
As for the all-important numbers, the 2018 F-450 offers a best-in-class maximum tow rating of up to 32,500 pounds, a payload capacity of 5,320 pounds, a GVWR of 14,000 pounds, and a best-in-class GCWR of 41,800 pounds.
What Makes the F-450 Better than the Competition?
It would be easy to just say the capability of the F-450 is what makes it better than its competitors, but after last year's redesign there's a lot more to love about the Ford than just the numbers associated with it.
The Super Duty is now one of the most modern, high-tech, and advanced trucks of its type anywhere in the world. The use of high-strength steel and aluminium delivers a truck that's stronger, lighter, more powerful, and more capable than anything in its class, but it can also be as comfortable as it is capable. Whatever you want a pickup to do and be, the F-450 is awaiting your command.
Should I Buy the Ford F-450 Diesel or Gas?
If we were talking about a large crossover or a full-size sedan, our answer to this question would be to avoid diesel and go for gas instead. The fact that so few crossovers and sedans offer diesel engine options these days pretty much tells its own story. But this is a truck, and a big one at that. That makes things very different.
Many people will be happy with what the gas version of the F-450 offers, which isn't surprising considering it's a 6.2-liter V-8 that develops 385 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque. But when it comes to the most demanding towing applications, the diesel is definitely the way to go. The diesel's horsepower isn't hugely better than the gas engine (440 horsepower), but the 925 lb.-ft. of torque that the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 diesel produces is on a different planet altogether.
